AAUP Loyola Maryland members meet monthly during the academic year to discuss present issues affecting the university and higher education. In addition to advocating for the principles of academic freedom and shared governance, we also sponsor monthly “Faculty Friday” happy hours, which all faculty are invited to attend and share in community.
We regularly advocate AAUP positions in the Academic Senate, as when we helped pass a motion granting full-time, non-tenure track faculty greater rights within the university’s academic departments. We are currently focused on ensuring that Loyola’s Operational Excellence Initiative respects academic freedom and faculty governance.
We always welcome new members interested in learning more about our work, preserving academic freedom, and bettering the conditions for everyone at Loyola. Please consider becoming a member, attending one of our meetings, and submitting annual dues to our chapter. Doing so will grant you access to our e-mail list.
